Supporting you to grow others.

This model was originally created in the 1970s for the US military, and is often now used by organisations who want to build effective learning initiatives.

We want to ensure these initiatives are learner-focused. Feed Your Elephant can be brought in at any of the first three stages as advisors, or as project leads working in unison with the L&D and HR teams.

How L&D specialists can create learner-focused solutions.

1. ANALYSE

What learning will bring most value to the learner and the organisation?

Involve others here, creating real learning value requires input and knowledge from all areas of the organisation.

2. DESIGN

How are you going to measure this learning?

Think about how learners can apply their learning and how that will add value for them and the organisation.

3. DEVELOP

Run a trial with target learners.

How do they evaluate the learning experience? What is the impact of their learning?

Making changes based on this analysis will create real value for both your learner and your organisation.

4. IMPLEMENT

Does the learning come at the right time?

This means at the right time for both the learner and the organisation. Adults learn best when they need to know something and the learning needs to fit with the organisation’s current culture and aspirations.

5. EVALUATE

Perception. Learning. Performance.

Are the learners satisfied? Was the learning retained? Is the learning being applied?

Has this added value to your organisation? You told the board that is would so now you have to prove it!
